There is a programme called OPT (Optional Practical Training) offered to opt candidates in the USA. It allows foreign students enrolled in American universities to work in their area of study for up to 12 months. (or up to 36 months for STEM majors). OPT applicants in the USA are required to have finished at least one academic year of study and have a degree in a field that is closely related to the position they are seeking.
